Affiliate Summit East 2010 happening right now at the Hilton New York is THE show to be at if you want to understand how to make money on line. Whether you are a small mom & pop shop that has a website or a Fortune 500 company – there is an extraordinary amount of juicy information here that is absolutely a must to learn about if you want to succeed on line. The information here is absolutely priceless. And the bonus? The attendees here (not to mention the organizers Shawn Collins and Missy Ward) are some of the most generous people I’ve met in any industry and I have my hands in quite a few.
In spite of not being an affiliate marketer I am here for the second time because what I learn here helps me and my business. No matter the business you are in you need to know how to have an effective on line presence. I actually wrote a column for their Feed Front magazine addressing this (click here to read it.) This magazine is a great way for you to begin to expand your understanding of the Affiliate Marketing world.
There are a few camps here – first there are the bloggers who represent a wide swath of interests some of these bloggers have a LOT of followers. And then there are those who might not have hundreds or thousands of followers but nonetheless they have a loyal audience that do care what they think. Some become hero’s or antiheros to their readers. Then there are straight up Affiliates who are the ones who spend all their days and nights micro managing how to attract eyeballs to the on line ads they place in the hopes that it ultimately be ca-ching! Then there are the entrepreneurs that are about to really step their business up to the next level and they are here to learn the ropes of this territory.
If you want to understand a little bit more and start to get your feet wet then here are a few bloggers and affiliates that you might want to pay attention to and learn from:
Hustler, Ben Spark, CopyBlogger, Daniel M. Clark, HeatherinBC, Ian Fernando, Jim Kukral, John Chow, Lewis Howes, Shawn Collins, Shoemoney, Missy Ward, Murray Newlands, Udi Schlesssinger.
The next Affiliate Summit is going to be in Vegas baby. Jan. 9 – 11th 2011. Hope to see you there!

Shawn Collins´s last [type] ..Day 3 of Affiliate Summit East 2010
Thanks Shawn! I feel the same way!
I love hearing such great feedback about our industry! Each time I go the experience is similar but different. I always meet new people and learn something from the sessions. But the personal takeaways vary. This time I felt a stronger female presence at the conference and was inspired to make the most of that between now and Vegas.

Hi Tricia! That’s awesome that you felt a stronger female presence. I think that’s terrific that you did. I’m curious what created that experience for you?
Although the conference as a whole still seemed dominated by males, it used to be that most of the females there were with agencies. This time, I was seeing more female merchants and affiliates. In fact, half of my meetings this time were with female affiliate managers. I also heard more mentions about the importance of marketing to women the whole way from the first keynote up through my presentation at the end of the day Tuesday. Two key blogging positions are held by women (Heather in BC as the Blog Mistress in the Blogger’s Lounge as well as Lisa Barone from Outspoken Media doing live blogging).
On the flip side, I still saw a lot of things that were really bothersome to me as a female (the bragging about parties with strippers and tweets about there being more “lady parts” at the conference). Vegas will be even worse. I’m just trying to block it all out since I know that there isn’t anything that I can do about it.

I really feel ya. Having previously worked in the world of finance – I can def relate to what you are describing. However this hasn’t been my experience at the Affiliate Summit. I think that the best way to combat this isn’t to “block it all out” but to speak about it constructively like you have by commenting here, for example.
Additionally as women we can make make strides together by creating opportunities for each another and continuing to show each another support through mentor-ship etc. to create even more opportunities.
I’m very grateful to you for sharing your point of view and your experience. Bringing this topic up always takes courage so thank you for yours.
Hi Kim,
Arlene and I attended Affiliate Summit East 2010 and as usual loved it! It’s always such a good time and I am always looking forward to the next one.
I’ve been attended these events every year since 2004 when it was attended by a whopping 220 people. It was held on a cruise ship that sailed return from New York to Halifax. It was quite something. I posted a video on YouTube taken during that event:

Hi James! How cool is that video! It’s amazing how far it’s come. Shawn Collins and Missy Ward really have brought this summit beyond! I’m impressed at how smooth it runs. And how great the people are that it draws. Hope to meet you in person at the next one. Thanks for your comment! Warm regards, Kim
