Praying Dangerously by Regina Sara Ryan 

Deliver us, O God, O Truth, O Love, from quiet prayer from polite and politically correct language, from appropriate gesture and form and whatever else we think we must put forth to invoke or to praise you.

Let us instead pray dangerously – wantonly, lustily, passionately. Let us demand with every ounce of our strength, let us storm the gates of heaven, let us shake up ourselves and our plaster saints from the sleep of years.

Let us pray dangerously. Let us throw ourselves from the top of the tower, let us risk a descent to the darkest region of the abyss, let us put our head into the lion’s mouth and direct our feet to the entrance of the dragon’s cave.

Let us pray dangerously. Let us not hold back a little portion, dealing out our lives-our precious minutes and our energies-like some efficient accountant. Let us rather pray dangerously-unsafe, profligate, wasteful.

Let us ask for nothing less than the Infinite to ravage us. Let us ask for nothing less than annihilation in the Fires of Love.

Let us not pray in holy half-measures nor walk the middle path

for too long

but pray madly, foolishly.

Let us be too ecstatic,

let us be too overwhelmed with sorrow and remorse,

let us be undone, and dismembered and gladly.

Left to our own devices, ah what structures of deceit we have created;

What battlements erected, what labyrinths woven,

what traps set for ourselves, and then fallen into. Enough.

Let us pray dangerously-hot prayer, wet prayer, fierce prayer, fiery prayer, improper prayer, exuberantly prayer, drunken and completely unrealistic prayer.

Let us say Yes, again and again and again.

and Yes some more,

Let us pray dangerously,

the most dangerous prayer is Yes.

Affiliate Summit East 2010

Affiliate Summit East 2010 happening right now at the Hilton New York is THE show to be at if you want to understand how to make money on line. Whether you are a small mom & pop shop that has a website or a Fortune 500 company – there is an extraordinary amount of juicy information here that is absolutely a must to learn about if you want to succeed on line. The information here is absolutely priceless. And the bonus? The attendees here (not to mention the organizers Shawn Collins and Missy Ward) are some of the most generous people I’ve met in any industry and I have my hands in quite a few.

In spite of not being an affiliate marketer I am here for the second time because what I learn here helps me and my business. No matter the business you are in you need to know how to have an effective on line presence.  I actually wrote a column for their Feed Front magazine addressing this (click here to read it.) This magazine is a great way for you to begin to expand your understanding of the Affiliate Marketing world.

There are a few camps here – first there are the bloggers who represent a wide swath of interests some of these bloggers have a LOT of followers.  And then there are those who might not have hundreds or thousands of followers but nonetheless they have a loyal audience that do care what they think. Some become hero’s or antiheros to their readers. Then there are straight up Affiliates who are the ones who spend all their days and nights micro managing how to attract eyeballs to the on line ads they place in the hopes that it ultimately be ca-ching!  Then there are the entrepreneurs that are about to really step their business up to the next level and they are here to learn the ropes of this territory.

Over the years of working on the Web I’ve come to realize that there’s one sure-fire way to know if what I’m doing, or who I’m working with, is the right thing to do.

I trust my gut.

Everyone has an instinct. It’s that little voice in your head that tells you things like:

• This person you’re about to go into business with is a jackass
• That client is never going to buy from you
• This gal is going to stiff me come invoice date
• And so on…

You don’t know where the voice is coming from. Or why the voice is telling you this. But you know it’s right. As humans we learn through experience. As we gain experience, we gain insight and we begin to form educated, and sometimes not, opinions and feelings about those experiences. This is how we learn, and how we react.

The problem is that even though our “gut” says “DON’T DO IT!!!” we sometimes don’t listen. So I’m here to tell you today to start listening. The next time something doesn’t feel right. Don’t do it. The next time someone says “I’ll pay you later” and your gut starts churning, don’t do it.

Concentrate on the relationships with people that don’t cause “the voice” to come out. You’ll be happier in the long run.
